Standard Conditions of Hire
This page is a markdown transfer and light refinement of the currently published standard conditions of hire.
1. Booking
The hall may only be used for the purpose stated on the booking form, and only the area paid for may be used. The hirer must not sub-hire the premises or allow them to be used for unlawful or unauthorised activity.
The hirer, or their authorised representative, must be on the premises during the booking and must be over 21 years old. The management committee reserves the right to refuse a booking without giving a reason.
2. Booking charges
Rooms may be hired separately or together. Charges are published on the charges page.
A one-third discount for villagers applies to non-commercial events. Payment should be made no later than 14 days after invoice date.
Refundable deposits apply for breakages, damage and extra cleaning:
- Children’s daytime parties: GBP 50
- Full day bookings: GBP 100
- Evening bookings: GBP 250
- Wedding bookings: GBP 500, of which GBP 250 is non-refundable if cancelled with less than 6 months’ notice
Bookings cancelled with fewer than seven clear days’ notice are charged at one third of the normal rate unless the accommodation can be re-let. Regular users can make firm bookings 3 months ahead only. Forward bookings may be cancelled if required.
3. Use and responsibility for damage
The hirer is responsible for supervision of the premises during the hire period and accepts responsibility for any damage to the building or contents.
Hirers must leave the hall or room in the same clean and tidy condition in which they found it. This includes setting up and putting away tables and chairs. Hirers are responsible for any damage or loss and for ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including any Temporary Event Notice or alcohol licence that may be required.
The hall must be vacated by the agreed finish time and no later than 23:59, or 23:15 on Sundays. This includes cleaning up and leaving the car park quietly.
4. Safety
Hirers should familiarise themselves with emergency exits, fire extinguishers and all displayed safety notices. Access to exits and safety equipment must remain clear.
All hall electrical items are tested to comply with HSE standards. Any electrical equipment brought in by users must also be tested, and the committee reserves the right to refuse its use if current certification is not available.
5. Numbers
The number present at any function should not exceed 200.
6. Respect for neighbours
Please keep noise to a minimum, particularly after 11pm. Music must finish by 11:30pm, or 11:00pm on Sundays.
The hirer is responsible for managing car parking. Spaces outside the building should be used carefully to reduce the need for on-street parking, and any overflow must not block access to nearby houses.
